You're wondering who the heck is running the mama-lounge right? I consider myself an urban mom, a real one for now until I ever move to the suburbs (yeah right!) I was born in Seattle, raised in San Francisco, and now I live in Oakland.
I was a writer before a mama. But becoming a mama pushed me to blog. I'm still shocked that people read my blog everyday. Thank you!
Anyways if you'd like proof of my writing background...here goes:
My work has been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, Chocolate for a Woman's Soul Anthology, Oakbook, and Nha Magazine. I've been granted art residencies at Hedgebrook, Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation, and the Vermont Studio Center. I was also a Managing Editor for As Is: a collection of Vietnamese-American visual and literary works. I taught creative writing at the Art Studio,UC Berkeley for many seasons too.
Sometime in between, I helped co-found Oasis for Girls which is based in San Francisco and still standing strong.
Kai is my first Vietnapino baby and the inspiration for mama-lounge. My husband J gets props too because he continues to give me ideas.
Thanks for supporting me as a writer of color too. Not many of us in this mama blogosphere. You can also find me blogging at tea collection. Cheers!
